Ambiguous Studios, both the programmer and publisher of massively-multiplayer online (MMO) game Star Trek Online, has teamed up with Mixed Dimensions to offering players a new service from March: custom 3D printed and hand-painted starship models.

In the online game, players have access to over 500 different types of starship which they can name and customize by selecting colors, shield skins, and parts. Once the starship is to your liking in-game, you can request a 3D printed version straight from Mixed Dimensions. Each 12-inch model is created using resin and is offered as a hand-painted model, a single-colour model, or a pre-primed model you can paint yourself.
Mixed Dimensions is a visitor specializing in combining 3D press technology with on-demand customized print jobs. Its GamePrint platform is what Ambiguous volition be taking advantage of from next month to create the personalized starships, but for now, there's no detail on pricing. Don't expect the models to be cheap, though, especially if y'all want yours paw-painted.
Mixed Dimensions also runs a service called 3DCollectible where you lot can upload a 3D model and take it 3D printed and painted. Prices fall in the $400-$500 range per model. Should we expect the same for custom starship 3D prints?
